The integrated calibration functions of the monitor series Intelli Proof 240 and 260 Motion from the German manufacturer QUATO are directly controlled with total 42 bit precision. Instead of the usual 100 to 256 steps, up to 16,384 steps per channel are used. The Intelli Proof Motion furthermore facilitates the display of 1.024 shades of grey and billions of colors, resulting in smoothest gradients and most accurate rendition. The large color space provides good coverage of DCI and HDTV standards.

In contrast to other TFTs, these monitors feature not only the usual 60 Hz repetition rate, but also PAL-optimized 50 Hz, and a cinema mode with 48 Hz. Thus, the otherwise necessary pull-down, which results in picture stuttering in case of panning, can be avoided. A large number of interfaces and the picture-in-picture mode enable video editing resp. motion rendering and simultaneous checking on the same monitor. Furthermore, all interfaces can display data also in full-screen and 1:1 mode, thereby replacing the old CRT control monitors.

EIZO convinces with its sophisticated high-end features like the expanded color space and the 12 bit hardware calibration. These are most important for any kind of professional graphics applications. Especially professionals from the pre-press and digital image editing businesses are getting enthused by the impressive sizes of the monitors of up to 30". They display highly saturated colors not available on conventional LCDs. The immense color space matches NTSC at a 100 % and that of the Adobe RGB at 97 %. Therefore, print colors as used in offset printing (ISOcoated) are rendered exactly as they will appear in the end product.

Key to the precise color rendering is the 16 bit processing. Video signals are being resolved at 1/65,000 and converted into RGB pixels. Especially with darker shades of color, fine nuances of color and the image structure remain intact. Shades of color are not being merged. Thanks to the high bandwidth for brightness and contrast, bright and dark image content alike can be displayed as detailed as in the original. This reliable rendering reduces the need for corrections and thus saves valuable production time.
